Use Google, Google Maps or Waze? You Could Become The Target Of A Murder Investigation
In pursuit of information to solve an arson/homicide case, local cops got a warrant to have Google hand over information on all users who searched for a specific address, or conducted any Waze or Maps views of a particular area, or searched for specific terms, during a two week period.
The information led to the arrest of three teens who burned down a home in a mistaken act of revenge against someone who they thought stole one of their phones. The incident led to 5 deaths. After the fact, the teens later admitted they targeted the wrong home.
Just a heads up if you use Google - you could become the target of an investigation simply for using Google to search for things.
According to my own testing, Google is one of the most highly censored search engines. My testing indicated the Russian based Yandex to be the least censored search engine. Good luck to the local cops trying to get anything from them.
Robert Gouveia covers the story in the YouTube link. My testing results of search engines is also posted below in the Substack link.
While in this case, the end result seems to be appropriate justice, it's a dangerous precedent for privacy rights.
